365 Days, 365 Movies: March

I watched She's the Man again. Still awesome.
So, I'm working to watch 365 movies this year, and I'm also keeping track of all the television (and other pop culture) that I consume. As previously mentioned, my attentions have been elsewhere for the month of March, and I definitely relaxed in my movie watching as a result. If I hadn't watched as many Cinderella movies as I could get my hands on, I would really be in trouble. More than anything. what really suffered was my ability to read:

My Pop Culture Weekend: June 1-2

One thing I've been flirting with for a while is the idea of writing regular posts. It seems to be all the rage, this idea of constancy. One thing I'm going to try out is a Pop Culture Weekend, wherein I go through all the pop-culturey goodness that I experienced over the weekend. Since I spent this weekend with Guest Blogger Square Peg, I thought she should come along for the ride.

The Kings of Summer (film)
in which a boy and his two friends leave home to form a new life in the woods. Bonds are tested, pubescent love is thwarted, and lessons are learned.

Tableau: I thought this movie was wonderful. Really cute and quaint.

Square Peg:  It was a perfect mix of funny and serious and heart-warming

T: When I saw the teaser, I thought that the movie was going to be sort of a naturalistic

'Game of Thrones' Returns in 3 Days!

Happy Good Friday, or, if you're not of the Christian persuasion, Happy Friday!   Easter is just around the corner, and that means...

Jon Snow Can't Wait for Easter!
...that Game of Thrones is coming back for Season 3!!!

Sure, Season 2 had its weak moments. Oona Chaplin's Talisa was a major misstep, and that character is still happening in Season 3. Still, this season has the White Walkers we were all promised in the pilot, and it seems like Jon Snow (Kit Harrington) and Danaerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) will finally have something to do after basically saying the same things over and over in Season 2 ('I'm a Virgin Soldier!' and 'Where are my Dragons?', respectively).  So, I'm excited.

Game of Thrones is back in 3 Days! Just like Jesus!

Taran Killam and Karen Gillan: A Comparison [Amy Pond Week]

If there's one thing we hear over and over again, it's that people love Saturday Night Live and Doctor Who, but it's very difficult to tell SNL's Taran Killam apart from Doctor Who's Karen Gillan. We totally get it. Not only are their names similar, they are also both leggy firecrackers with adorable goofiness written all over their faces. In honor of Amy Pond Week (and to help our readers through a difficult time), we have made a helpful chart detailing the many differences and similarities between these comedy mavens. Enjoy:

Community: Dan Harmonless, Rudderless

Well, just as I was settling down for a relaxing weekend, ready to soak in the bath and read review after review about the craptastic Battleship, NBC had to go and refuse to renew Dan Harmon's contract, thus effectively firing him from the show he created and ruining my weekend (I was going to eat scones!). True, in some ways it makes sense to replace Harmon, who besides his very public feud with Chevy Chase, has defied network notes on a variety of instances and hasn't turned in a show that delivers ratings. Still, much like fellow television auteurs Matthew Weiner and Louis C.K., it's difficult to imagine his show continuing without him. He is intrinsically linked with every brilliantly nut-log and amazing thing that has come out of that show. Plus, he made an American Sweetheart out of Joel McHale, and
